I am using the generated home page which has the built in “Featured Images” and “Latest Images” built into it so I am not sure now if it is different than using the widgets. Leo or someone that knows may have to give input.
Might be good to describe what version SY theme you are running, briefly how your setup, and the widget you are using. I jumped to a conclusion so it might be good for others to know details so they may be able to help better.
sorry
-TimOctober 23, 2013 at 4:51 pm #5849If I understand you correctly assign more images to the category “Symbiostock Featured Images”. For an example I have 7 images assigned that category on my test site here, Tdahl Test Site, and you can see the 7th image aligns on the second row. I am not sure what the limit is. I think there was a suggested limit of 6 in the past but maybe someone else here has more info.

I used …
.widget .search-result {
height: auto;
width: 16.66%;
padding: 10px;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right:auto;
}
The name of the CSS class might be different on your side.
Awesome, thanks. I will verify the css class on my side.

Thanks, Tim. I took another look at your CSS code and I think I’m slowly figuring it out.
How did you end up getting the images centered within the box such as the portrait style images? Hope my question makes sense. Thanks.

Actually, come to think of it, I also didn’t get this email on my testing accounts yesterday. So it appears it’s not currently being sent out.

FYI..
I tested with my test site and my live site and got the welcome emails each time, so I know they are going out. At least it is working for me. As seen in my screenshot in an above post in this thread.

I don’t understand. I updated and signed up as a new user. I still got a pop up window that says a password will be emailed to me, but I get no email and no password…instead I’m taken to the cart area. If I sign out I cannot sign in again because I have no password. Very confused.
Hi,
The registration works just as it did before. The only difference is you get logged in immediately, as you did, and do not have to wait for the email with the password to login for the first time. There should still be an email sent to the new user with the passsword. If you are not getting that email I would troubleshoot that issue. Maybe it is going into your spam?

followed the steps in tdahl-stock’s post (thanks! this is really the only one step by step instruction I found! 🙂 )
Thanks. Glad it worked for you.

by the way, those old renamed folders and themes in wordpress, just delete them once happy with the latest version? I guess wordpress still counts them as existing
I deleted my old renamed directories on my test site, but have not got around to deleting them on my live site yet. Just finding it difficult even though I have them backed-up. But there should be no problem deleting the old directories.

October 23, 2013 at 2:45 am #5717For me it was more important for the registration to take the customer directly to the site, so here is how I have taken care of the issue for now.
Added a “Profile” menu item taking the customer directly to their profile page
I then edited the welcome email to include the link to change his password
Ultimately I would rather have the customer set the password at registration though.

October 23, 2013 at 2:36 am #5823I am not familiar with the classes required to accomplish this task but for anyone interested my site setup is as follows;
I am using the symbiostock Home Page generator, on my home page my template is defined for “Home Page Generated”, and in customizer I set front page to static and then choose the generated home page.
I did customize the page-home0.php file in the child theme in order to remove the main content row. This moved the 3 CTA’s up under my slider as well moved the featured images and latest images up too.

Edit: As mentioned before, I made a temporary fix and added a menu item right next to the user name/login called Profile and linked it to…
http://stockyimage.com/wp-admin/profile.php < Put your own site name where mine is.
Thanks for the idea. I did not think of adding the direct link. On my test site I just addded a “Profile” menu item next to “Logout”. I can also just add that link to the email sent to the customer.
Thanks

minor problem: [symbiostock_upgrade] when some users do an upgrade I get 3 identical emails announcing it
Just throwing something out there but could it be the following. I have not updated my live site but here is how I am use to doing it. On my test site I usually see multiple emails and I think it correlates to the following actions.
1. first email from actual updating the site through WP theme update
2. second email from activating the new version
3. third email from reactivating the child themeNot sure where I heard it but is there a need to activate an updated theme to get everything updated (fully deployed)? I am new to wordpress so I was not sure myself.

…..now as they set their own password on sign up.
Jo
Jo, how do they setup their own password on registering? When I register a new user you specify username and email still. The only difference is you get auto logged in but you still get a password generated and sent to you.

“Jo Tester” IS A regular subscriber and if HE can do it so can you LOL! 😀
Jo
Jo, was that an existing user before you upgraded? I think what might be happening and is the problem is with new accounts. Could you try creating a new subscriber account and see if you get the “Howdy” bar then. I have created two new subscriber accounts and neither see the “Howdy” bar at the bottom or top.
Thanks

You can click on the part that part that says “Howdy, USER NAME”. Now that I look again, that menu bar is sitting at the bottom now. When you click on it a mini popup comes up. It’s got Your Name, Edit My Profile, Log Out in it.
Jo
That bar at the bottom that shows “Howdy, User Name” is gone on my test site with 2.8.9. Are you on version 2.8.9 Jo? Do others see it with version 2.8.9?

Awesome Leo, Thanks.
How does the user change his password? I do not see the customary bar at the bottom or any link to take the customer to his profile to change his password.
I was thinking about adding the link into the text for the welcome email. That way they could just click the link and change the password when they viewed the welcome email.
-Tim
The user/buyer clicks on Top Right Hand Corner > Edit My Profile and scroll down to “About Yourself”. You can enter a new password there.
Jo
Unless I am totally missing it there is nowhere to click to get to the profile on the new version (2.8.9). I login to my 2.8.8 live site with as a test user and I can click on the bottom right corner to get to the profile. It is missing on the test site with 2.8.9.
