I would use it. I often (if I remember) add the GPS coordinates for my travel images in Lightroom. It is pretty easy to use their Map function and it would allow someone searching for a particular beach or location to find it on a map even if they didn’t know the exact name. Once the data is in the file, it would cause no more work for me to have it appear in graphical form on a map.

I can see the issue, but have no idea why it occurs on some photos. I’ve done a spot check on my own site and see no signs of any problems there. Any idea which images result in the problem – ie one particular batch, or a few images within a batch?

I’m on the latest version of WP and of Symbio and just edited and published 50 images – I had no issues with login at all – it stays logged in the whole time.

    Hi Leo

I’ve just followed the steps again and my site behaves exactly in the way that MoJoD describes in his very full description.

    In a nutshell:

User enters new and correct information – all is fine.
User enters an email that has been used before – the site goes to the default WordPress screen asking for corrected information. You do get logged in OK from that screen, but neither the chosen password or the emailed password works.

You have the admin rights to my site from the previous work you did for me. Please check it if you like – there are two Test Customers in the User list that can be deleted.

PS – for most normal operations, the registration is working fine (and someone bought an image yesterday). It is the error handling that gets mixed up.

I’m certainly keeping going. I’ve already started separating my images into general microstock and macrostock (RM) – the latter is the more interesting photos, out of the way and specific locations and obviously images with property or people without releases. All my images go on my Symbio site and increasingly people will only find my images on Symbio, Alamy or Corbis. I’ll have to think about how to modify pricing going forward, but for now I’m happy to get a bit more exposure and a few sales.

I got a new sale today for $20 so things are still moving forward!

A sale for me this evening. Obviously this buyer had no issues with registration!

He bought a full size image for $20 of this photo:

Lets keep this ship sailing forward!

Yes, I would as well. I’m going to give this personal stock site the best chance it can have.

I followed the steps to delete and reinstall the email plugin (although I think I did have the correct one). My tests were less conclusive though.

I first deleted my old test users. Then I created the first one, was successfully passed through to the cart area to buy my images. I then logged out.

Next, I created a new user name with that same email address. That sent me to the error screen and I was able to change the email address to a new one. I was then passed to the cart area again – ie I was logged in with that new user name. I logged out and tried to log in again – didn’t work with my chosen password.

For some reason, the emails confirming registration took about 45 minutes to arrive, but the second errored registration shows a generated password that doesn’t work either.

So, bottom line – there does seem to be a remaining issue with registrations that start with a mistake – either a user name or email that has been used before. Not sure what the chance is of a new buyer making that mistake, but it does seem to screw up the process.

    Hi Leo

I suspect all the sites are actually the same – it works properly if you choose an email and user name that are unique (as most people should), but if you go to the error handling page (because of a clash with an existing account) then it goes wrong. My experience in testing my own site demonstrated that. You still have the admin details of my site – feel free to investigate there

I completed the poll as “yes” but then did more tests. Like the others, it is the error handling that is working incorrectly.

I created a new account with an new email – everything worked, paypal, download etc.

I then logged out and tried to buy an image. In the pop up I entered a new user name but used the same email as the first one. As expected, up popped the error screen. This time I used the same new user name and a new email. I was logged in, could buy the image (I didn’t go all the way through the process but I think it would have worked) and I assume I could have downloaded my image. However, in the meantime I had an email with my user name and a generated password.

So, I logged out, and tried to log in again. Neither my chosen password or my generated password now work – I’m locked out as that particular user.

As the final step, I tried to reset my password. This asks for the User Name (which is fine) and I was emailed a link to reset my password. I did this and could then login using my reset password. Only downside of this is that I was taken to the Profile part of the admin area. Not a great place for a user to be taken. If Leo is able to fix this error, is there a way we can force the password reset option to take the user to the home page at a minimum rather than into Admin.

    Hi Ron

I just registered on your site as well – nothing went wrong. I chose an image, got the registration popup, created my name and password and went on to add my image to a shopping cart. I didn’t buy – sorry.

I got my email from your site. It included the name and password I had chosen.

I’m using Chrome on Windows 7 if that helps pin down the issue.

I created a new registration on my site and bought an image. All worked fine. I’ve completed the poll.
