Will joining Symzio search (and getting your images listed there) be free?

Just to make sure I understand this correctly, there is no “networking” among Symbiostock sites anymore, is there?

Unfortunately, the legacy Symbiostock update system is being used for marketing purposes by the previous developer of Symbiostock. I have asked him to stop doing this, but he feels it is appropriate. At this point there is nothing I can do because he is not giving me access to the update system, which is password protected on third party servers. I recommend you follow the instructions posted above to disable the update notification and not install anything on your legacy Symbiostock server unless it is posted on the Symbiostock.org forums/blog. I apologize about the confusion.

I’m sorry but am I the only one that’s even more confused now?

I guess by “previous developer” you mean Leo Blanchette? So you’re basically saying Leo is spamming the Symbiostock community for his own benefit? And you work on a new Symbiostock WP plugin without Leo? What is your relationship to Leo? Is he still on board? And who are you anyway? Do you have a website? Are you developer, photographer, designer, …? Are you doing this alone or with a team?

I’m sorry, I really don’t want to be rude by asking so many questions but I simply don’t understand what’s going on. Maybe a little more transparency would be a good idea. Or have I missed an announcement?

Is there a sample site where we can actually see the new Symbiostock in action?

In my opinion the presentation of our products and the purchase process are the most important parts to be improved. I’d really like to see this before investing months of work again.

Hmm, I just tried to update the page “Symbiostock Network – Associates and Status” and received this error message several times:

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘address’ in /XXX/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/network-manager/network-manager.php on line 515

I think something we really need to generate more sales is a better (larger) presentation of our work. We need to make an impression.
Right now the image pages are too cluttered and the main product is simply too small (and not really sharp).
Just take a look at offset, flickr, smugmug or 500px to get an idea what I’m talking about.

Worked. No more issues. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot. Will delete that folder to see what happens next.

I do think we already lost some Symbiostockers but I’m glad we’re able to communicate again.

I’m all for a NEW look.

I think most Symbiostock sites in general (mine included) look ok but boring. And in our “business” presentation is everything. We are selling visual arts, aren’t we? So our sites need to be impressive not just functional.
And there have been web design trend changes in the recent past that shouldn’t be ignored either.

Two medium sized licenses over the last few days, one to Australia, the other one to UK.

Martha, I think your images are great but might not be a good match for W61. They’re mostly interested in European lifestyle and travel images.

Personally I believe the number 1 reason why you haven’t had sales with your site yet is that your photography is covering a niche that’s only in demand with a low percentage of the entire stock client potential. Your work is great but there are just not as many people (in comparison to mainstream stock themes) who need it. But I’m sure the longer your images are listed and indexed with search engines the higher is the chance to attract people who are actually looking for it. I’d say keep up the great work and don’t get discouraged.
