Symbiostock should be the old couple. It breeds trust and it is honest and believable. People have bad days, good relationships forgive, forget and move on.

    Very well said, Chromaco.

As one happily settled in and still in love, as half of an “old couple” (married 46 years now… to the very same guy), I hope to live long enough to see Symbiostock take on those same “settled in and still in love” characteristics.

Leo, that “Cowbell” video is great! I’ve never seen it before, and I see why you chose to post it today.

Take it easy, buddy, and please do get some rest!

You people expect one person to take care of every technical issue, every social issue, and every SEO issue … I really hope you didn’t run him off.

Well, gee, as one of “you people” who dared express an opinion, which others also dared to agree with, I guess I feel compelled to respond.

I have not asked Leo to take care of my uploading, my tagging, my social network promotion, my SEO. Those things are my responsibility, and I’ve actually handled them pretty well. At least 40% of my images are bright green on Yoast, and I did that work myself. My images are easy to find on Google, and I did that work myself.

I could respond to other aspects of your comment, but I won’t.

However, I will repeat what I said before: if we who have spent the better part of a year cheerfully learning, building, and contributing what we can to this overall effort are not free to express one simple opinion without being labeled “you people” who may have “run him off,” then perhaps SYS really has turned into a cult, as some have accused.

Personally, I don’t believe it is that. I wouldn’t have signed up last June for some kind of cult, and I wouldn’t stick with it now if I felt it was.

I’m grateful for what Leo has done with SYS, and I’m quite sure he knows it. I’d like to see him take more breaks from it. What I don’t appreciate is having others come here and point “you people” fingers. That really is not helpful to our sense of community.

In my case, I haven’t voted because I didn’t understand and didn’t want to vote the “wrong” way and thus screw up the system. But okay, now that I understand, I will vote.

Yes I’m using a header I uploaded to the media library, but it doesn’t seem to override the title box.

I have the same situation as Ruth. I set up my slider banner to carry my site name and other basic info. When I put the site name in the title box, it looks redundant and spoils the look of the page. So I’ve taken it out again.

Yoast rates my home page as brown, because I have no page title and no text on the page. There’s actually three columns of text at the bottom, but it’s all in widgets, and they don’t seem to count.

Thanks for the quick resolution and Leo, despite of some negative response of some people (one ?) keep in mind that most of the Symbiostock users think you are doing a great job. I hope you will continue doing this great things with Symbiostock.

    Greets from a satisfied user!

    +1 +1 +1 😀

Thank you to both Simi and Jo Ann for your help!

Earlier, I did try looking for View Source in the browser window and didn’t find it. But… right now it’s too late, I can’t get to sleep, and I suspect my brain is just fried. Will give it another go, following your good instructions, once the sun comes up.

As Scarlett said: Tomorrow is another day! 😛

an easy way to get thumbnails is to pull them from a search at http://symbiostock-search.com

eg, search topiary — then ‘view source’ and cut:

I was following along nicely, but you lost me there, Steve. Where do I go to “view source”?

    Thanks!

I like the cleanliness of it. However, it’s still heavily weighted towards Symbiostockers rather than buyers. If I was a buyer I’d wonder why I had to start my own Symbiostock site.

I think that’s a very good point! The new sites will come on their own, if the system is producing sales.

I’d rather everything the public sees be related to sales, not attracting new artists to the group.

Well, yes, I do add a few new images to my site every day. Over the last month, I manually redid all my images with those beautiful new watermarks (picking the best for each one). That was fun!

Right now, I’m cleaning up a bunch of stuff that I uploaded early on and somehow didn’t get onto pages along the way. I’ll be on another trip this spring and want to have my existing inventory all cleaned up before I start uploading again.

I can’t imagine anybody went through the trouble to set up their own site and then wouldn’t continue to keep it fresh. Things take time to develop.

I don’t think most of us are sitting back and relaxing. I’m not, for sure.

    Dear Michele,

I would be very sorry to see you leave Symbiostock. You’ve been a tremendous contributor to this effort, especially in the wonderful Facebook page you created and continue to keep fresh every single day. I do find it sad that so few people from this network seem to drop by regularly to “like” the images and sites featured on the page and otherwise support your efforts.

And from a personal standpoint, I am extremely grateful for the fine design help you gave me a month ago. The new header and two watermarks (giving me great flexibility!) you created for me have turned out to be a huge upgrade to my site. (To others who haven’t yet seen those new features on my site… check ’em out!)

As for seeing results, I haven’t even had my first $5 sale yet, but I’m not giving up. Maybe it’s because I know I fill a small niche with tons of competition. Maybe it’s because I’m older and don’t have to make a living from this. But still, I do take a lot of pride in it. I’m proud to tell people about it. Proud when they visit my site and come back with Wow! comments. Proud to be able to add my 1500+ images to the overall collection. And I feel confident that sometime soon, one way or other, I will start seeing some sales.

So, thank you for everything you’ve done for me personally and for this group. You have done your best to help us all, collectively, and I think you have. I hope you’ll stick around.

Congrats to both Christine and Karen. It’s happening, folks. We just have to be patient and continuously upload and improve our sites.

Good things come to those who wait… and work!

Yes, that may be his diabolical plan to keep our attention focused on this forum. My point is just that it’s hard enough to build something like this without potential contributors to the network being artificially discouraged by our fearless leader. 😈
