This bug has been around for a long time. I helped a site owner who was struggling with this months ago. The only workaround I could find was to make sure that the name of the page you used for your home page was first in the list alphabetically (in his case it was otherwise the cart page and all sorts of messed up stuff results.

The other work around I offered was to skip the home page generator 🙂

I have mixed feelings about free images. I have offered them at a number of sites over a number of years and at the beginning thought it might bring additional attention to my portfolio. Later I made offers of free images to help the site – thinking it was one of the ways they kept buyers spending time on the site.

I’ve never seen any clear benefit to my portfolio from the time when I’ve had a free image. And I once had a sale on a different site of an image that was free at another. That led me to think that buyers weren’t aggressively chasing deals, but just “shopping” where they usually shopped.

But for all that, sites still offer freebies, so someone must feel there’s something in it. I’m more than willing to donate a free image for a period of time if someone wants to experiment with whether or not this boosts traffic to the network. I’d prefer it if the size offered weren’t the largest, but that’s not a deal breaker.

If you check the box on the Symbiostock (bee) network settings tab that says use the Global search if there are no results on your site, you’ll let your buyers have access to the Global search every time they search, if it’s needed. And you can add it as a network partner if you want (I like the no results way to connect to it)

I picked styles of work that are similar to mine for my network partners and didn’t worry whether or not the partner could reciprocate – some of the earlier sites already had partners but I thought they were a good fit so I added them to my site.

Think what a buyer might want and give them connections that are likely to be helpful was my overall approach

I went to check my admin page and the “use Global search” box was checked, but I clicked Save button anyway (i.e. having made no explicit changes) and now it works!

Possibly you have to do a save after the update that introduced the checkbox to get the feature turned on. I probably saw the check box and didn’t think I needed to save.

Or something else, but thanks for mentioning that ’cause I’d forgotten to even look.

I know, I posted and then checked out the link. I edited my post to compensate. Off topic- but every time I click a link it takes me away from the forum instead of opening in a new window. I tend to not follow a lot of links for this reason.

I’ve tried to train myself to right click and open in a new tab but it would be a ton easier if links would automagically have the target=blank appended by the forum

And congrats on the sale – you definitely want hearts love and valentine keywords on that image 🙂

I saw that e-mail too, but I didn’t see anything wonderful in their list – they talked about PayPal fees being a little high but then mentioned an offering with a fee almost double PayPal’s

Other than Google Wallet, I’ve never been offered any of the other options they mentioned at any site I’ve shopped at (and I do a ton of my personal shopping/business online).

I’m not a fan of anything with monthly fees or with fees based on how many items you have for sale – that would really add to our overhead which isn’t what we need in a startup phase.

I think we have a real issue for those countries where they can’t use PayPal – there was a site owner from India who said that purchases from within India were not possible via PayPal because of some banking rules, for example. It would be nice to have an option to offer there.

As far as adding in other plugins, that’d mean some code changes in Symbiostock – don’t know how easy/hard, but I think it’d be pretty localized.

This is *bad word!* and bloody interesting LOL! Are bad words really bad though? Maybe they are just misunderstood as a child hehehe

    🙂

It can be tested out with preview so you can see what’s going to get zapped and what you wrote. I think it’s great that it’s a display filter only – if you modify your post you can see the original.

And it’s not too aggressive in that if I type in a bad word with separators like n-a-u-g-h-t-y b-i-t-s it will leave that alone – so the good typist who is very angry can say anything they want!

Interesting that bastards and bloody don’t count as bad words. I guess that means I’m old and an English-American 🙂

    I can’t help myself, so …

What do I get if I tell a large agency that rhymes with Petty to fuck off and die in a hole? Or if I mentioned that the agency commission reductions since 2010 are a bunch of greedy bastards who should bloody well know better and piss off and go to hell?

    🙂

Can’t say I’m surprised, but what a depressing if enlightening 8 minutes that was!

Thanks for posting. I think the guy did a really good job of laying out a complex topic in a very clear fashion.

I’ve been on FB since 2008 and although I really don’t like FB I find it a very useful place for (a) keeping in touch with people in other places/timezones and (b) a virtual watercooler for my virtual office.

I don’t think I have ever clicked on a FB ad and although I’ve liked a couple of business pages when there’s been some sort of charity giveaway that a friend was trying to get people involved with, I generally try to stay away from any “big business” sites. Small businesses of friends and family are different – I think I can trust them not to start spamming me with crap.

Done – see what showed up.

I did a search for cat red bow and then clicked on one. I also did a search for rottweiler and saw pictures of your gorgeous puppy.

In both cases I also clicked on a similar images link once on your site. It’d be nice if you could see that a PicturEngine link led to the on-site click, but I’m guessing that shows up as a local referral.

I don’t use WordFence, so I don’t know what that would show. Do you want me to do a search on PictureEngine for something of yours so you can check?

Jo Ann, just so you can check, I have clicked though from PE on one of your “napping” images then went to a couple of other resting photos to see if you can track them.

    Thank you.

I figured out what to enter to see what analytics had to say and found two referrals from picturengine.com in the list (not sure about the time – is that time at my hosting company?)

I think I did the Hollingbourne search – that’s my IP address and I assume you’re the “woman in garden” search

I see that you clicked on some images, but those show up as referrals from my own site – I might assume that a search at PicturEngine followed by more clicks from the same IP address were referrals, but I don’t see anything that says you got to a page by clicking on a link that PictureEngine displayed (these are in reverse chronological order, so read from the bottom up 🙂 ):
