While I’m at it, is there a way to show more than 24 images on a page?
You need to purchase the code infuser and then there is a piece code you can infuse to set the number of images per page.
At least, I had to pay for it, it seems its now implemented on sites for free.
I only need to change the number of images per page, so the infuser is a bit over the top for me for just that. Hopefully someone knows the necessary code and will share it!
thanks!
This was from an earlier version of symbiostock, but you can edit code to make the change if you’re up for it
October 21, 2013 at 4:29 pm #5254OK, I found the “Editor” (versus Edit CSS) to make the changes to base look for Dragonfly. I’ll go start making things look nice…
October 21, 2013 at 4:22 pm #5252Thanks – I already had a menu I could see – white text on the awful orange – so I didn’t realize that when in customize it showed — for other menus I didn’t want, that would show a menu.
FWIW Leo, I can’t see why the default out of the box (I didn’t do anything to make it this way) is orange menu on an orange background – you can’t see that you have a menu, so there’s no clue that the menu is what’s messing up the layout.
So now I have a small orange bar. There’s a Custom Header section, but that says nothing about color, just about showing an image (I actually want my slider up there, but I’ve got that in a widget for now).
I also don’t see anywhere the choices of looks for Dragonfly that Leo mentioned (slate and the other 10 “looks”) – have I missed something?
My site looks awful out of the box. I was hoping this might be easier than the first time around, but it looks like it’s another long haul. I have to say that this makes me leery of ever updating again…
October 21, 2013 at 3:59 pm #5250I currently have 2.6.5 and am trying to update.
How do I get rid of that huge orange bar at the top of the home page? I am not finding anything in the Customize section that makes it go away and I front page to be filled with great images, not blank orange space
October 21, 2013 at 3:34 pm #5426No, Leo isn’t the author, Amanda is. But look at Leo’s post #2, above:
“If you’ve already purchased cleantheme I can give you a version which is relatively up to speed with this version…so that answers 90% of your question!”
So I assume he made some edits to make it work, or mostly work.
I’m thinking of giving dragonfly a try and attempting to mimic Clean Theme with it by getting rid of colors and lines and boxes, etc.
October 21, 2013 at 3:00 pm #5424Leo said above he could give us an updated Clean Theme but he hasn’t been back since to provide a link…

…My WP wants to update to 3.6.1. Is it safe to just tell it to do so?…
I upgraded WP to 3.6.1 a while back and things have been running just fine since – I think all the installation instructions say to back up before every upgrade but for something minor, like 3.6 to 3.6.1 I think it’s unlikely you’ll run into problems.
There were a number of threads about backup options and I don’t think there’s a perfect (good and cheap) solution. We’ve all done some sort of compromise setup unless we wanted to spend money for a monthly subscription.
See these discussions:

I don’t remember having to get those plugins separately – I thought they were installed when I installed Symbiostock. Is it possible that you have them and they’re deactivated?
You can get them – for example here for the taxonomy plugin

I don’t have the Category Meta plugin (but I haven’t upgraded from 2.6.5 yet, so possibly that’s something new?

I have multiple domains as well and the main domain is Mallorcaimages.com. Don’t want to transfer them, just point.
“Just” is the word:-).Thanks a lot jsnover! It was clarifying. I am still confused though. Change something or wait…
If you want to use multiple domains (registered elsewhere) with your new bluehost account, then you’ll need to
1. for all existing domains, change their DNS info to the bluehost servers
2. In bluehost c-panel, assign your two domains to your bluehost account.
https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/hosting/assign
3. pick one of the domains as the main domain
4. set up a subdomain with a subdirectory as its location
5. assign the other domain name to the subdomain you just created and you’re done.
October 19, 2013 at 6:13 pm #5484I’m not sure I can help, but I was able to change my domain to point to BlueHost using method one (my domain is registered with someone other than BlueHost) and it only took a few hours. I think I was able to make the change online at the registrar’s site – i.e. do it myself) and then it took a few hours for the change to propagate around the world to the name servers that translate addresses.
Where are the four choices you listed being presented to you – in BlueHost’s cPanel or the site of your registrar?
You don’t need to forward anything – that would be if you were keeping old-domain.com and wanted visitors there to be redirected to new-domain.com.
You don’t need to park your domain name (where you own it but it isn’t currently being used).
BlueHost will via the cPanel let you specify where on their site you want a domain to point to – I have multiple domains on mine which translate to different directories on the BlueHost site. But if you have one domain and that’s all, you can use BlueHost’s cPanel to assign it to your account as the Primary Domain (and you don’t want to transfer it as that would move the registration to BlueHost, which you don’t want to do).
October 19, 2013 at 5:55 am #5421Add me to the list for an updated Clean Theme 2.0 – and in another post you mentioned you had a version of SYXtra that worked with the latest symbiostock too. I don’t care about the layout stuff, just the hover previews and square thumbnail widgets.
I’d love it if hover previews (the click to preview is not the same and doesn’t encourage browsing) could be part of the main theme. Or if we could separate out the previews from the other stuff in SYXtra…
October 19, 2013 at 12:55 am #5415No need to take your time to do that, but thanks for the offer.
When you say you have a CleanTheme that’s “relatively” up to speed, is using that going to cause headaches in the future – sometimes continuing with “old” technology isn’t the bargain you think it will be 🙂
Do you have a suggestion for which of the dragonfly variants might be the best for me to start with (assuming the goal is to have my site look just the same as before)?
October 19, 2013 at 12:51 am #5379Someone suggested to me that I embed my stock web site user name into every page of my symbiostock site (which I’ve done) to make it easier for prospective buyers to find me.
If I do a google search for either jsnover stock photo or Jo Ann Snover stock photo I get very similar results (the microstock sites are more prominent in the former). Image search has lots of agency photos, but my site’s images are now in the first chunk, which is good. And as my title on the home page is “You’ve come to the source!” that shows up in the google image search if you click on the thumb, which I hope gives buyers the hint to check it out.
if I search for digital bristles my site is the first in the list, but I’m not sure too many people will be looking that way (versus by subject or by my name).
October 2, 2013 at 4:33 am #3627I don’t know how many people are like me, but with one or two exceptions in the distant past, I never enter numbers in the MSG earnings poll.
I found that none of the bands really worked well – for example that I’d have two sites that had really different performance end up in the same bracket – so I don’t bother.
I have often participated in the thread when I think there is something interesting about who’s up or down that month and sometimes year to year comparisons that I find interesting.
October 2, 2013 at 4:26 am #3669Just wanted to let you know that it isn’t lack of interest, but I can’t do updates until next week – I have to go home to England (briefly) for a funeral, so I’ll attend to site stuff when I return.
