Here are links for the Facebook threads – I guess the link format has changed once more so there are two obsolete types of links scattered around here and in MSG

    Image of the week

    Site of the day

And as for your images, there are some great ones – this particularly grabbed my eye

Some of the last posts never made the transition to this new board….

There are masses of missing posts – all of December and some part of November – at least in the Technical Support and Development forums

That means tons of answers lost as well as the questions.

Any way we can get those back or are they just gone?

If you’re not logged in you see a message saying something like “There are no boards on this forum” and some info about active users.

Is it intentional that if you’re not logged in you can’t even read the forums?

If I try to use a link to a forum post here to view it when I’m not logged in I get a message that I can’t without registering.

I think it’s important to be able to direct potential site owners to information here – from MSG, for example – without them having to register to read it.

Jo Ann – it is still possible to ban users (for a time for bad behaviour or permanently) , I have started on them. Skype me if you cannot find it

Thanks but there’s a new tab since last night – I guess Leo turned on a few more things for moderators.

What I can’t see is the status of users in the list of members – to check if suspicious looking names are banned or not. And in the banning interface, I have to cut and paste names – no checkboxes on the list to do a whole lot quickly.

I see the names you banned, but comparing ueuwtmlkgv with vcfjdtbvsg visually isn’t easy 🙂

Let’s hope that spam registrations don’t happen, and then it won’t matter that mass bannings are harder to do here 🙂

They haven’t posted yet, but it’s only a matter of time before they do. If there is a setting that lets moderators ban users that you need to enable Leo, can we try to get that working now in case there are more spammers?

Good morning Jo Ann. What about a captcha every submit message? Should it avoid some automatic spam post after getting to register? Not sure if such automatic post exists, but just a comment. ;0)

A little annoying have to use the captcha every single post, but if it is a solution to block spammers we have to get used to. ;0)

I really, really dislike that approach. It’s a massive pain in the butt and the real problem is controlling registrations and possibly the first 5-10 posts. No reason to burden everyone with captchas forever to deal with that.

A captcha on registration would be fine as that’s a one-time thing

I just changed mine and was able to do it successfully.

What I did notice was that there was my user name filled into the field for confirming a new e-mail address (which I wasn’t changing) so I deleted that. I typed in a new password twice and pasted in my generated password into the current password field.

Is it possible one of the fields you weren’t changing had some bogus information in it?

I do use both FB and MSG and I think that it gets hard to split the conversations up across multiple places.

When the iStock forums became a lockdown infested wasteland, a number of FB groups started largely because the people who used to interact there needed somewhere to keep chatting. As we have somewhere that we can do that – here – I’m guessing the FB group really would have much action

Thanks for posting the link. I had a read and understand what they have to say, but I’m still really unclear about how engagement with a facebook page for my site (right now I just have my personal FB account), assuming I could get some, would translate into business on the site.

This site owner is clearly trouble – I banned him twice before he could even post 🙂

Welcome – the above is another “I’m so sorry” that Pere had 0 posts and twice got banned by me in the previous forum as I zapped spammers.

I have not had the white screen of death, but I gather from reading about it that it’s typically because you’ve exceeded allocated server resources in some fashion. Errors in code can certainly result in that.

However, it’s good practice to keep a copy of the unedited version of your file (if you’re really paranoid, both on the server and on your hard drive). If you encounter the white screen of death, just copy (using FTP) the unedited file back to the server and you should be back in business while you figure out where you goofed.

It’s also a good idea (if you don’t do this already) to use a text editor that uses syntax highlighting (TextWrangler on the mac is what I use) as it gives you an immediate visual clue for your stupid syntax typos.

I have noticed that the new keywords that i recently entered are the ones that don’t seem to show up in the search results..

Do you mean that the keywords read from your images when they were initially processed are handled correctly, but ones you added in the WordPress interface are not? That might be a clue for Leo

Do you have the premium plugin (which has its own search not the basic WordPress search)?

But there is a workaround – not saying it has to stay that way forever, but it would at least let you keep your old behavior with the new licenses.

You create two pages and copy/paste the text from one page to the other. To the user they appear the same so it shouldn’t inconvenience the buyer in any way.

It does mean that with any edits you’d have to select all, copy, go to the other page, select all, cut, paste, but that’s not likely to be a frequent occurrence, so it would be manageable in the short term.

I can see that, but I can’t explain why it is 🙂 It isn’t every term – I tried nutrition as an example, and it caught 173 results both with a search and clicking on a keyword.

By the way, I noticed some highly questionable keywords on a number of your images. This has nothing to do with the bug, but really will not help buyers searching your porfolio. As an example, on an image of the word FREE in metal type, you had the following, most of which don’t – even at a stretch – apply to this image:

background, banner, bargain, blank, business, card, chain, christmas, department, design, element, frame, free, gift, Graphic, grocery, hole, icon, identify, identity, illustration, isolated, label, lable, luggage, mark, market, message, money, name, navidad, paper, parcel, piece, poster, price, promotion, retail, sale, sell, set, shadow, shop, shopper, sign, store, string, symbol, tag, thread
