Sorry if it’s not clear.
To see this bug you’ll need some images that have existing keywords – not ones you added in the batch editor.
I think, but I didn’t test this out, that they need to have been read in when the image was originally processed, but it’s possible you could add them by editing an image from the Ladybird menu and adding keywords there.
January 26, 2014 at 11:18 pm #8762If by microscopic pagination you mean that the page numbers and “Next” that appear top and bottom of whatever you searched for in the batch editor, then yes, I see that in 1.4.5 too (it was fine before)
January 26, 2014 at 9:31 pm #8817I’m seeing a lot of problems with trying to navigate your site. I can see the problem you mentioned, but the same thing happens with the keyword horizontal.
I also keep getting swtiched to Portuguese – I select English from the menu (which says Idiom – which won’t mean anything to English speakers; I think you need flags for language choices) and the site switches. However as soon as I select a Category (Animals) and an image – pick any one – I’m in Portuguese.
I went directly to the list of categories (by editing the URL) and tried some other categories that aren’t on the menu and I get Portuguese. If I use the menu to select English, it reloads the home page – navigating away from the display of whatever category I was looking at.
I don’t see the problem with search on my own site (which is still 3.1.2 or AJT’s which is 3.1.9) so not sure if it might be language related versus theme related?
January 26, 2014 at 8:18 pm #7770These forum posts should not be automatically tweeted – unless the person who wrote a post wanted to tweet their own post and did it manually.
There’s the issue already raised about how random and often bad this will make symbiostock look; there’s also the issue of who owns what they write and that generally people do others the courtesy of asking if it’s OK to post something elsewhere.
Then there’s the issue of who in the world would be interested in this – I hate being deluged with a pile of crap on FB or twitter and am more likely to hide/unfriend or whatever a feed of that sort.
I changed the code on my image pages to get rid of the “community” feed there because I don’t want it on my own site any more than I want it on twitter.
In other words I can see no upside and lots of downside.

Thanks for telling us how to turn it off, but I still would like to know what it is supposed to be telling us.
That the XML files for network partners, the Global search to use have been updated – if you haven’t added any images in a while you could turn that off, but it’s harmless to generate new XML files when there are no new images or changes to image title, description, etc.
symbiostock_image_info, symbiostock_keyword_info, symbiostock_network and the symbiocard files are the ones updated
January 24, 2014 at 3:40 pm #7999And you are using ImageMagick (check on the Processing Images page and it will say up at the top; it’ll say GD if it isn’t)?
You need to increase the memory limit in the PhP.ini file, not the wp-config.php
I have files over 35MB uploaded without a problem with memory_limit set to 128M, max_execution_time and max_input_time set to 120 (I think those were the only changes
January 24, 2014 at 3:31 pm #8730If you’re shooting outside, even if it’s a bright overcast day (best) get a reflector. A large white board will do if you don’t have a reflector. Take a look at this example that I used a while back to show the difference of without/with reflector shooting outside on an overcast day (click for full size)

Do you have any light colored walls to use as a background?
January 24, 2014 at 5:49 am #8728Lighting and background.
Not sure what you have for lighting and whether you were planning to do isolations or a scene (such as her at a chair or in front of a white board/black board), but ensure that you have enough light to get good illumination with no hard shadows or on camera flash. If the message of the shot is the signs, then you don’t want a busy background or anything distracting.
I’m not familiar with that camera but I read the summary at the link you provided and it talked about good results in good light, so don’t depend on cranking up the ISO.
You might also consider some closer shots of just her hands making signs – sometimes things have more possible uses if you don’t see a face.
January 23, 2014 at 7:57 pm #8714Generally these sites aren’t hacking. They are someone buying a Shutterstock subscription, downloading a ton of stuff and then putting it on a torrent site.
A couple of years back there was one of these sites that advertised that they’d get you an image from Shutterstock if you gave them the image number. I don’t remember if they were even charging for it. Pretty brazen.
You can’t stop pirates from redistributing content they acquired legally – they violate the license terms but they’re in other countries and they know that legal pursuit is so costly and difficult that no one will come after them. They may lose their Shutterstock subscription if they get caught but they’ll get another one.
I’m not saying this blatant theft of our images is OK, just that you can’t solve it by hosting files in your home.
January 23, 2014 at 7:53 pm #8708Those are all up there in the post of mine that Leo quoted. The only thing you mentioned that I didn’t was making it optional to show the release status (model and property) under an image. Right now, it would show N/A for both if sites did nothing to record release information when images were uploaded.
January 23, 2014 at 6:29 pm #8727So my workflow probably wouldn’t be altered at all by this – assuming that it gets widely adopted by browsers, editing tools, image and design software, etc. – except that I’d upload the new JPEG if needed.
I think the most likely outcome is that this goes the way of JPEG 2000 🙂
I archive the RAW file, my multi-layer PSD file and the JPEGs I upload. I wouldn’t remove either RAW or PSD because of a slightly improved JPEG
January 23, 2014 at 3:48 pm #8710Not sure how having a server in your house is more secure than Bluehost, but if it is, why not host your whole site there and avoid having to make changes to Symbiostock?
I honestly think of all the things we currently need to worry about, having our portfolios stolen from the server is pretty low on the list. Has there been some hacking attempt at Bluehost I am not aware of?
January 23, 2014 at 2:33 am #8692I don’t see these on the list:
1. Price calculations go wrong and revert to 0 if you have an extra-price option that takes the combined total over $999.99. You can have larger prices than that, but it’s the add on (such as for an extended license) bringing the total over that that shows the bug. It was another site owner who reported this (in a now gone thread and I don’t remember who it was) but I was able to duplicate the problem on my own site with some temporary license price hikes. I think that was with 2.9.7
2. If you have multiple licenses, there is some very irritating UI if you try to select things in the “wrong” order. Use this image to see the problem
http://www.digitalbristles.com/image/lounge-chairs-yellow-umbrellas-grace-bay-beach/
Select a license radio button. You get an error message saying you have to select a size first. Click OK to dismiss the dialog. The license remains selected.
Click a size and the license gets unselected so you have to select it again and then you get a price shown and can add this to your cart.
Too many clicks and an unnecessary error. You can’t add to cart without selecting both, but let the user click in whatever order they want to
3. You’ll notice that image has no default license set (because I couldn’t get it to work at the time I added those licenses). We need to have a default and for that to be something you can set for all new uploads – it makes no sense to have no license selected when the page loads. I guess I’m saying that even if the site owner makes no choice here, the first one in the list should be selected.
January 22, 2014 at 6:47 pm #2086I’ve missed the last several sales posts, but congrats to you all (and kudos to Christine’s buyer for persisting in spite of technical difficulties)!
January 22, 2014 at 4:02 pm #8335I forgot to mention a bug lots of people have mentioned in the forums – not all sites see this (I haven’t, for example).
There is no limit to items in a page (the whole category or their whole portfolio, even if it’s hundreds of images) – at least until they get a white screen of death because they’re out of resources 🙂 Another flavor of this is that they get just 10 images per page instead of 24
The “workaround” is to disable the cart manager.
They always ask what they’re losing by disabling this, and the honest answer is not much, but perhaps if someone had tons of abandoned carts on their site it’d be good to know that and they can’t if they’re one of the sites with this bug.
