Thats a good idea. I don’t have much control over it at this point, but I’d like to see only the “cool” threads mentioned.
September 18, 2013 at 12:20 am #2854Great! Your now a mod. Thanks a lot.
September 18, 2013 at 12:18 am #2833One thing that might help is a simple small option to allow updates ever x days. Right now once a day the updater runs. But perhaps you could set it for every few days or weeks. –I’d have to build it in.
CPU throttling on uploads…there’s no way to change that. Its like trying to run photoshop on a server. Its like making a Greyhound do the work of a Rottweiler.
September 18, 2013 at 12:15 am #1497I’m officially off MSG now. Leaf is the coolest forum owner in the world, but I’m getting tired of the negativity certain people bring in.
Meanwhile though, yes, Symbiostock base theme is baby #1 and along side it I’m refining the premium upgrade as I can.
Mountains of sales? What about just a few sales as big as a mountain? Or does it matter?
September 18, 2013 at 12:09 am #2275Actually the way that happens is the most popular thread gets the tweet 😀

Would VPS make a big difference?
I’d say keep it simple as long as you can.
September 18, 2013 at 12:03 am #2710Welcome!

I keep forgetting to check this forum, so used to MSG forum.
How are we going with chipping away at this long list of things to improve?
Good! Slowly but surely I’m addressing everything. I’m working on the “bugs” that are presented, and updating everything else as I can as a bonus. I’m hoping to have a “complete” and “in stone” version finalized within a few months.

I went to Twitter this afternoon and was a bit surprised to see two tweets of posts here – both about problems
Isn’t this going to create an impression that nothing’s working?
Maybe…I’ve given up trying to micromanage things on that level. We started in MSG, so every fault has been blown through a megaphone from the beginning. I’m quite used to it, though tired. 😀
So you want me to nix the feature?
September 17, 2013 at 11:56 pm #2832One thing that can cause throttling sometimes is if you have a LARGE site and your daily updates are running. Your site updates itself for network aggregators like http://www.symbiostock.info, and thats the same as dumping all image info into several files. So if you have 4000 images, your database is going to need some room to work for that time!
I’m not aware of anything else that could cause throttling.
September 13, 2013 at 2:05 am #1909For anyone who may have missed it I just wanted to point out this very good gesture which is being done by Shelma1 http://www.microstockgroup.com/profile/?u=51448

September 13, 2013 at 1:41 am #2512One more thing, I really appreciate this promotional help you are offering. I’m sure we all do!
September 13, 2013 at 1:39 am #2511I’d simply say
Sell your stock images direct via a community driven open source package.
You could also emphasize that just like many modern solutions in software, it aims to be free and community built / driven. Only non-essential upgrades are paid for. You could show successful examples such as Linux, Blender 3d, WordPress, and so forth. Its a time-tested winning strategy applied to Stock Photography. This is minding, of course, that WordPress powers 18.9% percent of the web and has been chosen as the engine Symbiostock runs on. Thus extendability is easy, and low cost. Far more than the common paid solutions.
In a similar line of reasoning you could give examples on how the world is presently driven by open source software. Yet the world of imaging has attempted to cling to old methods and ideas of image selling, which are quite costly and ineffective in a modern setting, and costs are often extracted from suppliers progressively more as promotion and competition becomes progressively more difficult in a changing world.
Symbiostock takes a modern solution like open source and attempts to apply it to image selling, reducing the cost of expensive promotion and software development by harnessing the power of cooperative efforts.
September 13, 2013 at 1:19 am #2510I’m giving this one a lot of thought. Will post an answer soon. I hope others have some good ideas on this question as well.

Its the “metamorphosis” branch on this project: https://github.com/orangeman555/symbiostock/
I’m glad its being mentioned actually. Its important people know progress is being made despite the fact I haven’t been extremely active in updating the forums.
