Thanks Leo!
You are the man 🙂
October 24, 2013 at 1:49 pm #5916YEEEEESS!!! YES! YES!!! 😀
I love it.. this is the biggest step forward 🙂
October 24, 2013 at 11:00 am #5906Leo do we still need to turn off the customizer if we use the regular (basic) child theme?
October 23, 2013 at 11:57 pm #5734this will be the greatest improvement since the launch of symbiostock 😀
October 23, 2013 at 12:07 pm #5725I do get the emails.. but they are late sometimes..
if we don’t let the customer set the password on sign up, and make them dependent on the “late emails” for changing the password again, then really, there is not much point of changing how it previously worked..
for this auto-login to have any sense, we MUST let the customer set the password on sign-up..
Leo, this may be hard to implement.. I am not sure.. but it is “the ideal way”..
October 23, 2013 at 9:29 am #5719I think the wisest choice would be to let the customer create the password/password confirmation during sign up.. it would be less of a hassle than changing it later..
The bar (or a profile page) should be there in case the customer wants to change the password in the future.. they won’t always go back to that email.. Also, what happens if they delete the email? I always delete such password emails for security purposes..
I think there is no need to modify the email at all.. it’s at best a temporary fix.. on my other store “registration to purchase” usually takes 20-30 seconds as the buyer creates the password on sign up..

Not that they need to change their passwords now as they set their own password on sign up.
Jo
no, they don’t set their password on sign up.. I have created many test accounts on my site and one on your site and I was not given the option to create my password..
that would solve this issue once and for all..
October 22, 2013 at 6:03 pm #5710well of course the page is there.. but no user will know that URL
most users won’t even know it’s a wordpress site, if the bar does not appear.. anyway, I am sure Leo will fix it in one of the next releases..
October 22, 2013 at 6:00 pm #5782maybe it’s the .co extension

“Jo Tester” IS A regular subscriber and if HE can do it so can you LOL! 😀
Jo
Jo, was that an existing user before you upgraded? I think what might be happening and is the problem is with new accounts. Could you try creating a new subscriber account and see if you get the “Howdy” bar then. I have created two new subscriber accounts and neither see the “Howdy” bar at the bottom or top.
Thanks
TimJo maybe a nice guy, but he is a bit stubborn 🙂 he will not create a new account and will try to prove you wrong no matter what 😀

I used an account I created to sandbox test Payal, I used a different browser so it is not thing I am admin, just changed the password (twice), logged out and back in with the new password.
One thing I have noticed is that the grey bar is sometimes at the top and some pages it is at the bottom but just direct your users to click on the “Howdy, your name” bit. Damn I need to change it and keep forgetting LOL!
Jo
Jo, I have had symbiostock since the beginning and I know that god damn bar 😀
if you are on 2.8.9 and create a “NEW” account (not an admin account) there is no bar.. Create a “NEW” regular user account..

Awesome Leo, Thanks.
How does the user change his password? I do not see the customary bar at the bottom or any link to take the customer to his profile to change his password.
I was thinking about adding the link into the text for the welcome email. That way they could just click the link and change the password when they viewed the welcome email.

The user/buyer clicks on Top Right Hand Corner > Edit My Profile and scroll down to “About Yourself”. You can enter a new password there.
Jo
No they can’t.. create a new account and see it for yourself..

I dont understand what the issue is with the new login, can someone explain. I dont want to upgrade to find out its not ok.
Thanks in advance.
I did upgrade and still don’t know what has changed.
You won’t know until you create an account.. Create an account and see what happens 🙂 you no longer need confirmation email..
