I was thinking just a page of text links. Nothing too fancy. Maybe, it’s a widget that can be added and maybe it connects to the mothership once a month to pull in new sites and content. I was looking at widget building, but the whole thing might be above my pay grade.
you could copy the listing of sym sites at symbiostock/marketing – it lists each site and its promoted keywords — of feel free to copy any of the reports generated by http://symbiostock-search.com
just do a ‘view source’ and copy the table that’s generated

….I upload 5-10 images per day, so generating thumbnails and all the other work you do is just too much for me. I’m just including my logo instead. I’m not sure if that will make a difference. Already uploading to my Symbio site has added an hour of time to my day. If I have to do all this cutting and pasting I’m going to cut back on what I upload there.
an easy way to get thumbnails is to pull them from a search at http://symbiostock-search.com
eg, search topiary — then ‘view source’ and cut:
Topiary framing garden gate background.of course, this means your image must already be published… but you can keep thumbnails of OTHER similar images and add them instead
January 29, 2014 at 8:21 pm #8978I’ve listed several ways to increase backlinks

January 29, 2014 at 3:59 am #8282Description is not being updated??
My image started out with the desc “SONY DSC” which is imprinted by the camera. after uploading and processing,
I edited it to a full paragraph and links to get http://cascoly-images.com/pix/image/pere-lachaise-statues-and-mausoleums-2/however, when i list it under images, it still shows only the “SONY DSC” for description. worse, when i “view source”, several SEO items still list the original:
…
…
…………….
similarly, if the image started with an actual short description, that remains in the page format no matter what changes i make to it. this means changes to the desc do not get picked up during SEO!?
http://cascoly-images.com/pix/image/red-semi-truck-on-winter-road/so it looks like descriptions used for SEO excerpts can’t be changed once the image is processed.
this also carries over to the duplicated exif functions — even after i edit an image to remove redundancies, they still remain in the source======================
UPDATE: looks like some of these problems are within the yoast generated variables — but the description listed in the images area is NOT being changed when in fact the description for the image has changed — and that holds even after doing an update to the public image filesJanuary 28, 2014 at 8:26 pm #8869@leo wrote:

January 28, 2014 at 8:16 pm #8751the image.xml looks good, but the symbiocard.xml still reports 0 images…
January 28, 2014 at 8:08 pm #8868It’s sad to hear anyone is thinking of dropping out, but especially when someone has contributed so much., so I hoe you’ll reconsider…
I’ve been slowly adding to my site, but mostly working on alternative ways to draw people to the site –
== cross- and back-linking from other relevant sites
== displaying complementary thumbnail images on high content pages
http://cascoly.com/trav/us/civilwar-manassas.asp
== developing games and apps like chronos timeline that can use images
== writing descriptive pages about symbiostock & promoting it
http://cascoly.com/promote.asp now has a pagerank of 4
== developing a way to promote symbiostock sites thru ebay auctions (tough since ebay doesn’t allow digital products but I think I’ve found a way to do it — more on this if it works out)January 28, 2014 at 7:36 pm #8919@shelma1 wrote:
So…you work in an industry that buys images, you have an insider view of what they need, and you draw that. And i would guess most sales are to them?
Can you comment on Cathy’s assertions on MSG? Is it true a few people who started out together have zillions of links to their sites while the rest of us are limited to 10?
….
http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=66 shows how many sites alexa has found that link to a site – this isn’t the same of course as actual links reported by webmaster tools
January 28, 2014 at 1:47 am #8715I get similar warnings from paypal — yet my tests have gone thru fine from another paypal account
HOWEVER – that other account never got a download email & the purchased image stays in the cart! and I don’t get anything about the purchase from my sysm paypal address other than the paypal notice
January 28, 2014 at 1:36 am #7370I’ve changed this to a high priority item in the bug list — will post a revised list before I take off to ski in our favorite VAT-asking French Portes du Soleil on Friday (where it’s still cheaper for us than a Colorado holiday!)
January 28, 2014 at 12:22 am #8753your symbiocard.xml file still lists 0 images and you symbiostock_image_info.xml file is empty too — you might try doing a new update (bottom of symbio/networking page)
then look at http://www.jbstockimages.com/symbiostock_image_info.xml
and http://www.jbstockimages.com/symbiocard.xml
if it still persists – leave a message in the bug stomping thread in development

Hey
I spoke to a food blogger who complained that she didn’t want to go to the big agencies to get an expensive subscription when she needed just a few images now and then, and said it was very hard finding ways. Hopefully one of you with food images got a sale or two because I gave her the link to Symbiostock. The only food I have is a beer and a bowl of olives…….[/i]
just a note — 141 sites have a total of 21308 food images http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=401
(beer has a respectable 877)

Christine,
Now there are 167 sites on Symbiostock if I remember well. One month ago, when I started the design of my site, there where one hundred sixtysomething, so only a few new sites have joined in the last couple of months. The growing curve of symbiostock is reducing the slope it had at the beginning and will trend to flat in time, it cannot grow forever and will trend to st6abilize at a certain point with sporadical new sites joining in. So my point is that the way the network is designed penalizes the newcomers who have a lot of sites to link to but very few options to be linked from. It reminds me of a pyramidal club where the later you get in, the harder you get results, so to speak.first, while symbio growth has leveled off a little http://cascoly.com/symbio/symbiostock-network-growth.asp this is a slow time of year; over the last year it’s maintained a surprisingly constant rate of growth and that should continue for some time
while I’d favor an increase to15 or more sites, the limit of 10 actually ENCOURAGES links to new sites rather than any pyramid type action — since established sites already have their 10 links, new sites will be looking for other new sites to link to — right now, only 844 of a possible 1670 network slots are filled — http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=61 and many sites have only a few links
also take a look at http://cascoly.com/symbio/symbiostock-gephi.asp which shows a very distributed network that’s actually difficult to display since there aren’t any clusters or cliques
