October 14, 2013 at 9:33 am #3757It does seem that photographers have got more creative with their categories than illustrators for some reason

http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtOctober 14, 2013 at 11:21 am #3758New Categories look terrific! I love the way they work. I also have nested categories. For example the main category “Food | Drink” has subs such as Cooked Food, Drinks, Raw Ingredients, Sweets | Desserts.
I love the previews! It’s a great selling point I think.

Edit: I just think like a buyer. I want to get to what I want to buy ASAP. So I try to make it is as easy and as quick for them to bypass what they don’t want and get them to what they came here for. If they then feel like browsing they will…

When will this show up on the update? or where can we download to do it manually
Whoops, Edit by Christine – I meant to quote and reply but somehow posted in the thread instead
The link is on the first page of this thread – if you are using 2.6.5 read about upgrading to 2.7/2.8.* before you do it, there are a lot more changes than other versions madeOctober 14, 2013 at 12:28 pm #3760Just one extra point, while I like this new look a lot, it has made the page very long. So there is a lot of scrolling compared to the simple text page.
I think the sub categories should be nested and hidden until you click on it perhaps. Makes for a shorter scroll.
If it’s possible, reduce the padding on container holding each category so it’s narrower also resulting less scrolling.
Mine is at least about 2-3 pages scrolling. http://stockyimage.com/image-categories/
Still loving the previews when you pop open the category!

2.8 rocks !!! Love the new categories page. I was only thinking yesterday I wanted to do something with that. Leo read my mind. That is uber cool !!!
Great stuff Leo. !
October 15, 2013 at 3:19 am #3761The category page look very nice. And I agree about having sub-category also 🙂
October 15, 2013 at 3:49 am #37622.8.1!
I think when we’re done developing this version we’re just going to hop on over to 3.0.
Mostly I worked on the category pages to show hierarchy. You are only allowed to child-down to 1 level. This is mostly due to menu constraints and other practical issues with wordpress.

(On your own sites you will see the children categories displayed properly)
There have been a few layout improvements. A noticeable one is that “similar images” now center properly.
Plus search results are a bit cleaner now — http://www.clipartillustration.com/?s=robot&post_type=image

October 15, 2013 at 7:08 pm #3763what happens to the deeper levels of categories? is the original hierarchy maintained, but just displayed differently?
I have a number of 3 levels, and a few 4 levels: eg
-travel
— us
— Utah
— Bryce
— zioni’d already been thinking of moving the US portion out of travel anyway
October 15, 2013 at 7:34 pm #3764I cannot see even one child category….In Category People I have subcategories but cannot see them in Header Menu.
http://www.stockphotos.ezeepics.comYou have them in your Categories Map but not in your Portfolio
