just to share with you what happened me today.
someone mailed me if i recognized a certain photo and yes, i did;
the mailer informed me that someone uses it as a profile-photo on Facebook;
i went on FB and looked and yes: there was the picture, nota bene complete with watermark!
the mailer had found me with the help of my watermark.
i have sent a bill to mr Alfred Lesley Smith of Cobb Mountain CA and of course a “friend” request.
we will see what happens…..
(later on i will inform FB about the illegal use)
Good luck collecting any fees for infringements on social networks.
It’s a nightmare. Not even a lawyer will go after it.
I believe FB terms of service prohibit using a false name/identity – one wonders why someone would use a stock photo (even if legitimately purchased) for a real FB account. They may just remove the image and consider the problem solved.
Good for the person who contacted you that they took the trouble to find you though
Facebook, like pinterest etc etc just take down the picture when they get a dmca nktice. Good luck with getting the invoice paid, it does happen sometimes

Good luck on that.
Seriously odd that someone would use that as their profile pic. But, if your lucky he’ll change it … and if you’re really lucky he might pay for it.
Not sure that it matters, people do this kind of thing all of the time. Luckily, he didn’t use it for profit.
I doubt he’s a real person, judging from the fake-ish sounding name and the use of a stock photo for his profile pic.
