Hi fellow Symbiostock users,
I have tried again and again, but the “return to website” function at PayPal simply won’t work.
I’m set up with Sandbox, but have tried buying from both Sandbox and Live accounts, but I’m not automatically redirected back to the License and File Management Area
I followed the instructions from the Symbiostock manual and the PayPal manual and enabled it in my PayPal account – on the PayPal end it looks like this:

On the WordPress end it looks like this when Sandbox is activated:

When “Live” is activated I just remove “-facilitator” from the e-mail address
When adding images to the cart, agreeing to the terms and clicking “pay now” from my site, I get to this page:

When logging in and finally paying, I get to this page (still on PayPal):

All of the above is my sandbox buyer testing account by the way, but a friend live tested it earlier today and it was the same (I was right beside him to keep track of things)
My PayPal account with which the site is set up is a business account
What could be wrong?
Thanks in advance
September 20, 2013 at 2:08 pm #3043You did better than me getting Sandbox to work – I found it much too complicated, so I cannot comment on your pages as I do not know what they are doing.
I have recently finished adding Paypal information to my draft tutorial thread (it is in blue) in the Site Launching section of the forum – would you like to take a look at that and see if it helps you ?
Might be a silly question but did you scroll right down to the bottom of the PP page and save?

Thanks, I’ll just have a look 🙂
The process of setting up Sandbox was not logical at all in my opinion. Maybe due to the fact that I’m not a US citizen, however I found this detailed guide by jshooz at MSG which helped immensely towards getting it up and running (though I had to fill out fake US address information at the PayPal developer site):

PS. I did click save (but no questions or suggestions are silly)
September 20, 2013 at 2:59 pm #3045Okay I see you commented on that MSG post, so you are obviously already aware of it 😉
ETA: I did click “upgrade” to get a business account, but the problem might be it’s still a personal or merchant account or something. Will look into this and get back (I find the PayPal accounts thing very confusing)
September 20, 2013 at 3:49 pm #3046Hi Cathy, if you want to auto-return to the download page after paying at paypal you have to fill in the page in you PP profile. Then, once you have paid it brings you back to where you started

http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtSeptember 20, 2013 at 4:16 pm #3047I have exactly the same issue but honestly, it doesn’t bother me much.
I don’t think it’s a big deal for the customer to do one more click to “Return to the Store”.
September 20, 2013 at 4:45 pm #3048I just did another test purchase with the sandbox as i couldn’t remember if the auto return worked (and I have set up the IPN in my PayPal account – that’s available for Premier as well as Business, just not for personal accounts).
Although the sandbox says the notifications are working, I had to click “return to store” to get back to my cart page.
If someone figures this out, that would be great, but my one real buyer appeared to manage OK, so I’m rating this as a low priority problem for now
Here’s the PayPal “how to” on setting up IPN:

Christine, do you have a tutorial on what to fill in where on paypal for that? Tho i am hesitant to mess with it, since its working ok. You know…if it aint broke, dont fix it. 🙂
Hi Cathy
Yes – in the setting up section of the forum I have done a post entitled Draft Tutorial – the first post/page is now complete (until anyone reads it and picks out the errors or misinformation when I will need to change). I will continue as and when I get some spare time. I am hoping to add add sorts of things over timehttp://kerioakimaging.com - trying to reopen
http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtSeptember 21, 2013 at 7:06 am #3050I managed to get it to work 🙂
However, it only redirects within 10 seconds, so what’s the difference anyway?
What I did was create a separate PayPal account and make sure it was a business account.
Return to website doesn’t work on personal or merchant accounts it seems
I (thought I) upgraded my personal account to a business one, but apparently that didn’t work.
The PayPal interface for my personal and business accounts now appear to be exactly the same, so it’s really not easy to figure which is which. Is it worth it though having two different PayPal accounts just to get “return to website” to work ? Probably not.. You’ll have to link and verify your creditcard again and it takes a couple of days probably
September 21, 2013 at 3:30 pm #3051Thanks for posting a follow up. I’m not sure I want to upgrade from Premier to Business just to get that to work…
September 21, 2013 at 5:11 pm #3052I use premier for my site and that works
