thanks Christine for sending me a message.
i actually very interested building my symbiostock site, and i have purcased a 3 year hosting from bluehost.
but after i dive deeper about this project, i personaly thinks it lacks the touch of simplicity and consistency. overally this not meet my expectation. im really sorry to say this, as i know everyone here has put alot of effort to get this point
my view is,
– this should be simple enough, so it will snap alot of user, because witout that symbiostock is powerless
– should NOT able to change the layout etc, so every site sould be consistent each other. so the buyer will familiar with navigation
– my view about layout should be, symbiostock logo (not personal logo) in the top left, search image in the top right, and big random thumbnail in ithe main page, other things in the footer, thats it, -flikr thumbnail style would be great i think 😀
– no need to sign in to buythats my thoughts, im hoping this project is getter bigger,
or if anything i can contribute let me know.best,

Thank you for your thoughts, it is always interesting to see other people’s opinions
Symbiostock is basically the software and means by which we can create our sites, it is not an entity which is responsible for what we put on our sites and therefore I feel that having it as the main logo on every site is not a good idea. Everyone using the Symbiostock software is totally responsible for their own sites/stores and being individuals we all wish to decorate them to our own tastes and to fit the products we offer. Most of us then choose to network with each other.
Navigation is the same throughout the network with the search box being either above or below the header
Another thing that causes differences is the various legal requirements for different countries

There is a project one site owner has to offer a co-op to alleviate a lot of the leg work:

As far as the sites looking alike, there would be nothing today – no sites – if that were how things were set up. There is a global search of all sites – which is excellent:
It took me a while to understand the importance of site independence to the growth of the network – it seems at first so obvious there should be one set of prices, one look, once license, etc. Put two stock photographers or illustrators or videographers in a room and they’ll likely agree on almost nothing! Possibly on how badly the agencies are treating contributors but little else.
The freedom to have our own site design, logo, pricing, licensing (and some people have a mix of selling and referral to RM sites like Alamy or Stocksy) is what makes this endeavor possible. I don’t have to like other people’s site design or pricing and they don’t have to like mine either!
It’s certainly an experiment, but for me the big thing is to have an alternative to the agencies as well as somewhere that I can experiment with pricing and packaging if I wish to.
