I’ve removed several dead sites from the global search lately such as http://happystock.com
please leave a note here if you find any sites that have disappeared — several were reported to me when people found search results cluttered with bad links, so I’d like to clean those up as soon as possible. I can’t do it automatically, since those bad links will also appear if a site just happens to be unavailable for awhile
also, those linked to the dead sites may not know they have a network space available
March 13, 2014 at 3:21 am #10241I don’t know if it counts as a dead site, but
has been a white screen of death for months. I contacted the owner via MSG in the middle of January. She said she was going to try and fix it, but I guess that hasn’t happened.
March 13, 2014 at 7:36 pm #10242thanks — looks borderline — last symbiocard update was December — the minipics come up ok on the search, but clicking on the minipic just gets WSOD, so i’ll remove it from search results for now
my definition of a dead site is broken links, usually no minipic showing up on a search
it’s easy to replace a site if it recovers, and meanwhile users get better response
March 16, 2014 at 10:12 pm #10243I did a global search for minerals today and although I could see a thumbnail, when I clicked on it I got a page not found. Then I looked at the whole site and it appears there are no images there at all any more

That one is mine. I had a really old version of Sym that I couldn’t update. I tried to do it manually but completely buggered up the site. Since I was unhappy with the look and feel anyway, I tore it down and I’m starting it from scratch. Still active, will be growing it slowly. Cheers!
March 17, 2014 at 3:14 pm #10246Glad to hear your images aren’t leaving 🙂 Good luck getting the site rebuilt

The newest version is so darn easy compared to the first ones! Loving it. I’m going to eventually move my minerals and stuff off of every MS site and keep the prices higher too. I have some stuff that has never seen the light of day…
