Finally I have my site up and running: http://www.stockphotocluster.com
First, I want to say thank you all you that helped me when issues raised and in general to all the Symbiostock community because I also found very valuable and useful answers in older posts. In particular I found very useful the joAnnSnover approach to label images as Editorial and I took that idea for my page along with the code modifications used to put the model/property releases information below the image preview.
Now i guess it’s time to build my network. I’m a little confused here and don’t know whether it’s better to link to sites with complementary work completely different from mine just to wider the subjects and categories offered in my site or maybe it’s better to link to sites with similar images. What’s your approach?
January 20, 2014 at 3:00 pm #8619Welcome! Nice site, beautiful images. 🙂
I think people take different approaches to networking. I’ve added a few photographers who have different specialties and vector artists whose styles are different from mine and from each others’, so buyers see a wide variety. But I think some people add others whose work is similar to theirs.
In the meantime, to help promote your site and Symbiostock:

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=573January 20, 2014 at 4:40 pm #8620Welcome – and I agree, you have some gorgeous images. There are some stunners from Catalonia, but the astronomy images are probably the biggest eyecatchers – like this one:
I also loved the Andromeda image.
On the editorial images, the couple I checked said “N/A” for model and property releases. What I have done is to put “No” there for editorial images (as applicable; if there are no people, then N/A for model release) to make it unambiguous to buyers.
On the question of who to have as network partners, I figured that it should be sites similar to mine but offering more or different content – something that might help a buyer out if I didn’t have what they needed. So, for example, my landscapes are very bright and colorful and I wouldn’t partner with a site that offered only black and white; I do some people images, but typically very down to earth, so I wouldn’t partner with someone doing glamor or boudoir shots.
January 20, 2014 at 6:34 pm #8621Thank you Shelma1 for featuring my image on Facebook! Wow, pretty fast!
Tank you Jo Ann for your words and your advice regarding the network partners. Also good point on the Editorial images. I’m gonna edit them and set as No/No for both model and property release.
