Christine – about the lines:
I placed that code as it is into the “old” child theme’s style.css (to the bottom)
2.8.2 with newly installed old child theme.. not a heavily modified old child theme..
I think you should install the old child theme from scratch and add new code 1 by 1..
October 18, 2013 at 10:23 am #4991About the other question: I am not sure why some sliders have grey gradients while others have white.. haven’t done anything special for that..
October 18, 2013 at 10:23 am #4992I did, I started with a completely clean child theme, I have been gradually building it in my test site over the last week or so and transferred it to my live site and again edited it a bit at a time. I am doing something wrong though as it does not remove the framework …… yet

What I did was nothing more than adding the code to the old child theme as it is..
October 18, 2013 at 10:53 am #4996I have just tried it on my test site as well – does not work there either

I have spoken to Mark and he has resaved his settings to ensure that they are set to “word borders” and while a direct search on his site no longer brings up people instead of cats, a search on my site does.
And they will be there until these “cat” results in your cache are timed out . Bee->Network->days cache network search, 1 is the smallest number you can put there.
October 18, 2013 at 12:09 pm #4998I deleted Cache, probably the wrong one 🙂

October 18, 2013 at 1:17 pm #5000Now you know why I break things, and as a result why I can often help with others who have done the same thing.
I got the panel snippet working – my fault I had missed a } out above it.
Going back to those grey gradients on sliders – has anyone else noticed them on their sites or is that just me?

I noticed when I viewed my site on an iPad or other mobile devices the image list was all vertical and aligned on the left. Even though there is plenty of space to align 3 or 4 images horizontal. Is this the way it is suppose to work? I was thinking with responsive feastures it would put as many as it could horizontal and then move the images down as your screen got smaller.Hope I am making sense 🙂

No, it’s not just you, Christine. I have also noticed it.
October 19, 2013 at 4:55 am #50032.8.2 is ready if you wish to update from it. I’ve been busy on everything else, I fixed the categories to the way they were – and the “pretty” (interactive categories) categories is an optional template you can use.
I also adjusted some image layouts in widgets to be properly centered.

just upgraded to 2.8.3 — categories (old method) work fine, and fast
