Well I just get a blank screen when I upgrade to 5.4
Maybe I’m missing something, but I’m not sure if I can invest time in building a site hosted at bluehost for it to be rendered useless in a few weeks…. and then constantly having to dance to this tune each and every time bluehost decide to upgrade in the future.Does anyone know of a host that might be more ‘future-proofed’ with regards to symbiostock compatibility of their ongoing upgrades?
November 12, 2013 at 12:09 pm #3975Which version of Symbiostock are you using, V 2.9.4 is compatible with PHP version: 5.4 (it is with my setup anyway),

Hi Christine,
Yes, I’m using SS V 2.9.4. Which seems to work fine with bluehost PHP 5.3 but as soon as I switch to 5.4 my site just changes to a blank white screen. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Maybe it’s something very simple I’m overlooking. I guess I’ll have to have another tinker under the hood.November 12, 2013 at 12:34 pm #3977No idea, I could not even use 5.2 with some previous versions and had to revert to 5.1 – I don’t understand what they do so hopefully someone will come along who knows what they are talking about before long. Have you tried deactivating all your plug-ins and seeing if that helps?
Or maybe this will help – http://www.symbiostock.org/topic/503/wordpress-white-screen-of-death-solved-with-tutorial/

I’m not sure what else to do at this stage other than trying a new host.November 12, 2013 at 4:49 pm #3979@sunnystockphoto wrote:

I’m not sure what else to do at this stage other than trying a new host.I’m running on Bluehost with PHP 5.4.20 and Symbiostock 2.9.4 so it isn’t likely that changing your host will fix things, IMO.
I’m not sure what could be the reason for your “white screen of death”, but it’s happened to a few other people.
Could this help?

November 12, 2013 at 6:39 pm #3980Thanks for that link. I’ll run through it and see if there’s anything in there that I’ve missed which might solve the problem.
I’m also doubtful switching host will change things but right now I’m willing to try anything as I’m running out of leads with my current set-up.January 15, 2014 at 4:03 pm #3981The PHP upgrade took my site down on HostMonster. Anyone know if this is fixable or do I need to start over?
January 16, 2014 at 4:12 pm #3982It’s as “simple” as upgrading – the cascoly chart of network connections says you’re at 2.5.5
Read the detailed step-by-step instructions at the top of this post
Although it talks about an earlier 2.9.x upgrade, it will apply to you because of the version you’re currently on
