I’m trying to build a new site, and when I search for it it doesn’t show up.
March 29, 2014 at 5:18 pm #10696Go to the board index and on the right side is the list of resources with the link to download. Or is it not working? I didn’t test it.
March 29, 2014 at 6:08 pm #10697Got it…thanks. It’s been a while. 🙂
March 29, 2014 at 10:02 pm #10698One last question…how do I get rid of this stuff on my pages? Jeez, I had this all figured out before. 😳
March 29, 2014 at 11:02 pm #10699Not sure if you are using the home page generator but to get rid of the Author box I did the following. I am using the home page generator. This removes the middle row just under the slider and moves the three CTA’s up under the slider.
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=523&p=6048#p6048
I copied page-home0.php into my child theme directory and edited the file there.
Here is what I removed from page-home0.php: (not sure but your home page php file name might be different)
<article id="post-” >
<?php edit_post_link( __( 'Edit', 'symbiostock' ), '‘, ‘‘ ); ?>
<!– #post- –>March 29, 2014 at 11:13 pm #10700Thanks for all that info! But I don’t even know what a page-home0.php is or how to find it. 😀
There’s gotta be something you can just click somewhere? I know I’ve never edited any code before, but I got rid of all that stuff on my current site somehow. I’ve gone through appearance, menus, symbiostock, everything I can think of.
March 29, 2014 at 11:47 pm #10701Most of those sorts of things are done with widgets in various areas on the page – home page above content, home page below, etc.
You remove the widget from the sidebar and you’re all set. Appearance – > Widgets
March 29, 2014 at 11:50 pm #10702Sorry, then I am not sure. If there was a clickable way that would be great. I will definitely follow here and see how it is done.
March 30, 2014 at 11:51 am #10703Widgets! That was it. Thanks, Jo Ann! I knew there was a way without editing code. Follow Jo Ann’s instructions…just slide the widgets over if you want to get rid of them.
March 30, 2014 at 1:33 pm #10704Michele, which widget and section control the second area you have circled? I wanted to change that on my site and I think it is hard coded in there for one or more of the home page templates so I could not get rid of it with widget changes.
March 30, 2014 at 2:42 pm #10705I’ve managed to get rid of the sidebar on all my pages by going to:
pages > (page name) > page attributes > template > full width (last option)
I’m still trying to get the other Symbiostock stuff off my home page; haven’t remembered how to do that yet, though I managed to do it with Vector999. 😳
March 30, 2014 at 5:27 pm #10706What are you using for your Home Page template? I think that is a permanent feature of the Home Page Generated template unless you’re willing to venture into the PHP files to change the coding but you then need to do that with every upgrade.
I have a test page I’ve been playing with and just used the “Home Page” template and that is more versatile but takes more manual formatting and adding widgets.
If you or anyone else needs a refresher on how to find out what page template you’re using you need to got to the PAGES tab on the right side of your WP dashboard and select All Pages. When you hover over the page you want to view you’ll see the Edit and Quick Edit options. Select the Quick Edit option and will be a drop-down menu option for the page template.
March 30, 2014 at 11:10 pm #10707I’m really getting annoyed now at having the Symbiostock logo and author stuff on my home page and will probably switch to another theme. Getting rid of widgets makes no difference, assigning another page as the home page makes no difference, switching from Sym child to Sym makes no difference.
March 30, 2014 at 11:16 pm #10708Web stuff is annoying isn’t it! Slowly but surely I’m making the new version — a vast simplification, improvement, etc. In the meantime let us know how you evolve.
I dumped a huge part of my humanity into this present project, so now I’m sort of pushing myself on the latest version. But we do have a nicely coordinated team guiding its progress. The uploader for instance can be used on the image editing page.

Are you using the same version I am? Most of this stuff is easily changed out of the box. Let me know if something silently broke…
