I’m already at 2.6.5 in the core theme and have the premium plugin, which also comes packaged with a new build of Symbio. Do I need to implement the build that comes in the package and then add the plugin, or does the 2.6.5 build contain everything I need?

OK – I think I have completed this (although the Symbio package included version 2.6.4).
Maybe a stupid question – do I need to do something to turn on the improved search – does it immediately work on my live site (ie I can search for compound words) or do I need to configure things.

The search will work out of the box but you can configure the settings at Symbiostock -> Settings.
