How to add/edit and display SKU in product page?

In Edit Media->Product Data->General, I saw string ‘SKU’ but there is no editing field. Plus, the product page SKU info is not displayed. Any comments? Thanks.

Thanks Chris,

I did some investigation into your old post and find the SKU generator plugin doing a good job. The bulk edit plugin is powerful though. Appreciate your help!
