Something has changed, sometime in the last few months, and I don’t know what. I used to be able to post to Facebook from my image pages (by either clicking on the Facebook share button, or via Hootsuite which also uses the Facebook scraper). Now, when I try that, there is no image. When I use the Facebook Debugger at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ (sorry, the link would not embed into the post) it indicates that on my image pages, the meta tag for Open Graph for images is a blank image: <meta property=”og:image” content=”https://s0.wp.com/i/blank.jpg” />
I suspect that the image pages, being generated dynamically (right?), are no longer getting the proper Open Graph data for the image, but I don’t know what has changed to cause that.
I’ve tried:
>toggling the Open Graph setting for Facebook in the Yoast SEO plugin. Made no difference. Yoast support, utilizing data from the Facebook Debugger, is suggesting it is the theme that is at fault.
>toggling caching in the WP Super Cache plugin, and deleting the cache. Made no difference.
The change may be in the Facebook api itself, in how their image scraper works. Whatever the cause, I’m at a loss as how to even further address this, much less fix it.
Any help out there?
Thanks
