Hey folks – I’ve started using Symbiostock hosting and since setting up my email (on desktop mac Apple mail and iPhones) I’ve been getting frequent “Cannot verify server identity” problems (see pic: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=9i7994&s=9#.V_u-hpMrK3I), and on one of my desktop macs I can’t get it to run at all, problems with the smtp server.

This is very frustrating. I’ve set up many email accounts over the years on my macs and iphones and while this is a problem that’s come up before with SSL, I’ve always been able to resolve it. This time I haven’t been able to fix it, despite following the setup rules and usual troubleshooting tips.

Any suggestions for how to get an actual tech person familiar with mac who can find this problem by walking me thru this on the phone?

If not, I’m assuming it’s not a problem to switch just my email service to one of the free email services out there that let you keep your own domain, such as Zoho sites or other. But I wanted to confirm that here first.

What is my best course of action here?

    thank you!

If it is only happening on one of your macs then it has something to do with that mac, not the server itself. I don’t use a mac so I have no experience with it. Best guess would be to add it as an exception when and if you are prompted so you no longer see the issue.

As Robin stated, if you know the server you need to authorize it to communicate with your Mac/phone. Tap on “Details” and find the “Always trust this server” option.
    Same on the Mac.

The “cannot verify” problem has been happening on all the macs. The one I specified, I can’t even get it to run on at all.

I thought I had tried the “always trust” option, but did it again on the other desktop mac and seems ok for the moment.

OK I will see what else I can manage on my own and will post here if any developments, thanks guys.
