One of our new contributors’ images were not loading for some reason from Symzio.com – we looked into it and realized that they had enabled this functionality in their control panel.
This is a somewhat outdated mechanism that used to be used to prevent people from linking directly to images on one’s server to preserve bandwidth. As bandwidth is really a non-issue nowadays, and added to the fact that search engines may have trouble accessing your media for their image searches, it is always a bad idea to have this enabled.
Additionally, Symzio will not be able to access your media and display it to customers. We strongly suggest you never have hotlink protection enabled and let anyone access all of your media anytime, especially since if they are watermarked, you get free promotion if someone else hotlinks to it.
