Hi Leo, when I woke up this morning I found 250 false users registered to my site at The Food Shop! All spam! From the same person, I think was a robot because a person don’t loose time to register 250 times. It was different email adresses but very similar, type s.quabb.le.p.a.j@gmail.com, s.q.u.abb.le.paj@gmail.com ecc.
This was possible because the registration process is very simple and don’t need a verification link sent by email. I also receive a loto of spam in comments. So please, for me is urgent, cannot fight with this situation, I need a more secure mode in order to not permit spammers to attack me. I need a registration with confirmation link in the email. How can you help me?November 4, 2013 at 9:08 am #6822I think you can just add a normal captcha WordPress-Plugin…
November 4, 2013 at 9:22 am #6823Captcha for comments, but for registrations?
November 4, 2013 at 11:01 am #6824I added the wordfence security plugin (free) and that took care of it…even when we did have a more difficult sign up process, I was getting a lot of spam. I also added anti-captcha, also free.

I am going to edit your heading to make it more informative – you can always edit it back if you wish, as this is not really an issue for Leo as can easily be resolved by using plugins

Count me as another +1 for Anti-Captcha.
It will “captcha” the spam, but legit potential customers won’t even know it’s there. Brilliant!
November 4, 2013 at 4:43 pm #6827I use Anti-Captcha as well – I hate captcha’s (Shutterstock and 123rf use them) and this is the best of all worlds as a human user never sees it.

I have Wordfence installed, it doesn’t help me.

November 6, 2013 at 12:35 am #6834I’ve got over 1500 spam registers now, but since I turned off commenting, it doesn’t really matter
