Batch editor adding categories to keywords

I edited a single image in the batch editor (clicking the link under a selected image) and it adds the categories to the keywords when it reads in the information about that image:

If you save the image, it really adds the keywords, but if you edit the image a second time in the batch editor, although it adds a second set of the category names to what it shows in the dialog, it doesn’t actually save a second set of category names
