I loved to see Camus mentioned, Steve … I like his work a lot as I like (even better) Jean-Paul Sartre … perhaps we could have a “literature corner” on this forum 😉
it’s a new book called ‘Brave Genius’ , a dual biography of camus & Jacques Monod, who I never thought of as being similar, but not only were they good friends and former resistance fighters, but their ideas influenced the other in fields as varied as camus pacifist existentialism & monod’s breakthrus in molecular genetics
Sartre as usual doesn’t come off too well in the later years as most French former communists & leftists broke with the soviets but Sartre continued to rationalize support for the soviet union
since my background is molecular biochem (in the 60-70s) and I re-read myth of Sisyphus often, I grabbed the book as soon as I read about it
