Hi,
I finally bought a Bluehost account and registered a new domain, and after the initial setup according to the guides I’m feeling completely stuck and a bit frustrated.
My website is: http://www.stockphotosart.com
I’m very excited to join and contribute to the Symbiostock but at this moment I’m getting a bit frustrated since I cannot discover on how to personalize my website and I’m also having trouble in finding solutions in the forums. So I would immensely appreciate any help you could give me just to have my site working and start uploading images.
So, I have a few questions, hopefully not too complicated.
1 – How do I remove the menu on the right with all the piled up links?
2 – How do I create a new Image Category since when I change the name of an existing one it actually doesn’t change anything.
3 – What are the essential plugins I must have.
4 – How important and how much does the Premium Upgrade really is and how would it simplify this experience?
At the moment I don’t want anything fancy, just to setup a basic website so I can start uploading my images and connect to others.
Thanks!
November 2, 2013 at 1:57 pm #6738Hi José and Sofia
Welcome to Symbiostock
1. Go to Appearance, Menu – and create a new menu and, for instance call it Cart, and save. Then, if there is a box near the middle bottom of the page that says Cart tick this and save (I cannot remember the exact process but this should help get rid of the list of links
2. Image Category – go to either All Images and select Image Category and create a new one or create a new one in the category area when you are editing/processing your images
3. SYMBIOSTOCK – Emails and Notifications that comes with Symbiostock
Wordpress SEO
Symbiostock Site Map – a paid for plug in that helps with SEO
A contact form – I use Contact Form With Captcha4. The premium upgrade is a recent addition and allows alternative licences, twittering and selling sets of mages

November 2, 2013 at 3:47 pm #6740If José and Sofia would give me admin access to their site I could do it for them and take some screen shots to do a tutorial

That was already really helpful! I usually don’t have problems with techie stuff but regarding Symbiosotock I’m in a complete brain freeze!
I’ve added Contact Form from Captcha but don’t see any difference in my contact page despite filling the available field in the settings with my e-mail. I also don’t see an alternative contact form in my Contact edit page.
Searched this forum and MSG but could find an explanation about what to do.

I think that the way to eliminate those stacked links is far from obvious, at least for me, so it might be a good idea to have a simple way to do it.
I now have the “About Us” in the right part of the screen, several links and the SYS symbol.
I’d love to have a simple homepage like the one in http://ansharimages.com/ but it’s revealing hard to achieve this.
November 2, 2013 at 7:03 pm #6742Try going to appearance > Customize > Symbiostock nav menus
Then go down to “Separate search/account menus?” and click “off.”November 2, 2013 at 10:25 pm #6743Hi and welcome!
I was busy typing what Christine explained and we had a power failure that lasted for hours and then my windows just wouldn’t load.
Boy was I annoyed! I was about to hit enter LOL!
With the image categories sometimes they aren’t immediately updated I have found. Sometimes if there is more than one page of categories if may appear on a following page alphabetically once you create/edit it.

Now try a water supply failure or the gas bottle ending in the middle of the bath.. 🙂Thanks for the tip.
November 3, 2013 at 10:13 am #6745I’ve got two new questions:
I’ve tested the image buy function and bought one image from myself. As far as I know it worked fine. If someone wants to try and see if everything works fine I’d appreciate. I’ll issue a refund for anything you pay.
If something it’s wrong, especially if it poses a risk to my paypal account, or allows for free download of images please tel me.
The category with some images it’s this one: http://stockphotosart.com/image-type/animals/
Yet, I discovered that upon download all metadata is stripped. The image I’ve downloaded did not have any type of copyright information. Is this normal or am I missing something?
Thanks.
November 3, 2013 at 1:41 pm #6746Hi cathyslife,
You may try now.
I was working, well I was actually wrecking my website… but now I think it fine.
November 3, 2013 at 2:14 pm #6747Thanks Cathleen!
I’ve already issued the refund. If you didn’t received it tell me.
Also disabled that captcha plugin. Working on installing another.
The metadata was added with Adobe Bridge and I can see that it’s there using Bridge, Windows Explorer and Acdsee.
I also had the keywords and descriptions available after uploading the images, so I don’t understand why it’s being stripped.
November 3, 2013 at 2:43 pm #6748I’ve installed ImageMagick 1.5.1 plugin, uploaded an image, but in the Process Images Page I’ve got:
Using GD Library (exec enabled). • info: Image Processing.
November 3, 2013 at 3:24 pm #6749I’ve searched for the plugin and I had a 1.5.1 version for the Imagemagick. It didn’t come with the SYS install as far as I remember.
I’m on Bluehost and in the plugins in the wp-content I do have an ImageMagick folder.
Tried adding “extension=imagick.so” to the PHP.ini file without success
November 3, 2013 at 3:57 pm #6750I’ve changed it to 5.3 single, went to the php.ini file under public_html and added the following line:
; extension=imagick.so
I’ve pasted it to a section mentioning Dynamyc Extensions although I don’t know if this is relevant.
Logged out of wordpress, logged back in, uploaded a new image and went to processing. Unfortunately I’m still stuck with the GD Library.
I’ve been searching in other posts in MSG but still no solution found.
November 3, 2013 at 4:04 pm #6751try it as
extension=imagick.soinstead of
; extension=imagick.sohttp://kerioakimaging.com - trying to reopen
