When I got to 3 pages of spam user registrations I thought I would delete them, but everyday I’m getting more. What’s the theory that everyone else is working too, leave them because there might be some SEO value??? or delete them because they seem to attract more spam registrations.
October 17, 2013 at 1:35 pm #5265Are you using anti-captcha or anything similar

Get Anti-Captcha plugin.
I’ve had it installed since the first week of my site’s existence, and I haven’t had a single spam registration yet.
Good luck!
October 17, 2013 at 2:02 pm #5268Thanks I will. But…………..I thought I read something from Leo that spam registrations might help site visibility or maybe I got it wrong.

I don’t think so.

Make sure it’s ANTI-Captcha. Your users won’t be aware of it. Much better than a regular, annoying Captcha.
October 17, 2013 at 3:12 pm #5272i’d been getting 10+ spams a day, with no anti-spam filters..
I turned off all comments AND tracebacks and haven’t had any since – i’m trying to keep plugins to the minimum

I did that too a long time back, so maybe that’s why I haven’t had any spam comments.
But what about spam registrations? That what the OP was asking about. Maybe Anti-Captcha doesn’t do anything about that. I thought it did. Maybe not??
October 17, 2013 at 4:28 pm #5274I just added Anti-Captcha to my site today. I’ve received signups but only one attempt at spam post so far. Curious if the signups are bots or people just checking out prices and extended licence prices and such.

I saw some reports of it not working properly with the new theme and decided to avoid complications on the start up. Should I install it now?

yes, I still get spam registrations, but they don’t do anything or cause any problems; easy to ignore
