I posted this at the old forum before finding this one so forgive me if you see it twice.
I am using the guides to set up symbio on an existing multisite wordpress site. I get to step three, where it says to check the “anyone can apply” checkbox, but I cannot find that in any general/settings tab anywhere :(.
My site is http://photographyartdesign.susanszoocrew.com/ . I see a login thing that says I’m logged in, did I already enable this somewhere? Can someone try it out pretty please?
I’m so lost 🙁

Not on the overall site’s settings, not on the individual sites’. Trying to test the login thingie but i’m getting bounced back.

http://www.softlightstock.comOctober 5, 2013 at 3:28 am #3849I think maybe the problem and solution relates to your multi-site set up. I did a Google search on the missing “anyone can register” issue and came up with a few different responses but this seemed to relate to your issue.
I am going out on the limb here and guess that you may have a multisite setup. If so, you may have the Network Admin link, and the registration setting you are looking for would be under the Settings tab in Network Admin.
Do you have a settings tab for a network admin? If so, try that, otherwise, try a Google search or search the WordPress.org help files to see if there is a solution there.

October 5, 2013 at 11:43 am #3851Steve, I’m using what downloads when you install , just did it yesterday :).
KLS, there’s nothing under the settings tab in network admin. I figured it has something to do with the multisite setup :(. I did find a “users must be logged in” checkbox under a writing tab and checked that.
Tried registering myself under a newly made email, it did let me register, but bounces me back to my homepage not my photo page which is completely the wrong place….
Wish I could find a multisite knowledgeable person :(.
Thanks for helping!

http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtOctober 6, 2013 at 12:19 am #3853I tried installing a multi site user plugin-Join My Multisite. I have everything checked properly (apparently as long as you check members must be logged in you’ve enabled registration when dealing with multisite). Problem now it, the password email never sends. Says it sent it, never shows up. I have a register page and everything.
Is this supposed to be so hard :(( ….
See, pretty page http://photographyartdesign.susanszoocrew.com/please-log-in/ But nothing happens. No users show up under any account…at least from me testing and a friend trying
October 6, 2013 at 2:25 am #3854I tried to do just a basic multisite WP site and had *nothing* but problems. I decided it was easier to install multiple WP than mess with the headache. I suspect multisite is better suited to dedicated servers than the shared hosting most of us use.
What was your goal in using multisite? I decided I was trying to use a spade when I needed a rake and it just wasn’t the right tool for the job.
October 6, 2013 at 10:12 am #3855dianajo, my thinking was to keep my seperate interests, well, seperate but under the same theme. That way I wasn’t promoting my photography and my music and my bonsai and my animals stuff and possibly confusing people who went to a site for one thing and saw another. My original handcoded website just got so unwieldy :(. Plus having to manually update four seperate websites didn’t sound like fun, so with multisite and viola one click I thought I had it made! And I didn’t want to look like one of those business cards where they list all their abilities and look like a jack of all trades master of none.
cathy, thanks so much for trying!
Someone told me wordpress made it easier……i swear handcoding was easier…………grumble 🙂
If I don’t have multi site, how would I install symbiostock then? I can’t install a seperate theme for each page in regular WP can I ?
October 6, 2013 at 10:19 am #3856You can have a subdomain to your main site and install wordpress/symbiostock on that

http://nail-art-at.kerioak.com - Art and Nail ArtOctober 6, 2013 at 10:51 pm #3857If I can’t get this to resolve I may go down the one site per interest path.
However, I may have found part of the snafu of my missing emails, seems that one of the emails on a different domain appears to be hacked because I found an error log with “too many per hour emails” in it. There’s much to be said for bluehost, the live chat guy was able to tell help me out. Now I’m just waiting for the server to clear to try the emails again. He verified there is no “membership” checkbox in multisite, just the “members must be logged in” setting I had already found. Now the waiting game commences 🙂
October 8, 2013 at 12:40 pm #3858Seems the multi site just doesn’t play nice and getting support for it is just about impossible.
Now that I’m on “normal” WP, I see the members checkbox :). There are plugins for multisite that let people join just one “site” but they don’t seem to play niice with symbiostock :).
Thanks for all the help! Going to try this again……
