Hey folks, I’m a vector cartoon character illustrator and have finally got my Symbiostock site up and running – http://www.KennyKstock.com (please network with me all who are interested, I think I’ve figured out how to do that correctly and have added my maximum 10 Network URLs). I’m having a couple of issues that you can hopefully help me out with:
1) My contact page as it was set up didn’t forward me the email of the customer contacting me for some reason and was therefore useless, so I deleted the Contact page and simply replaced it with a link to my email. I tested it and it seems to work OK now. But, on my Info link on every item page, there is a Contact option and when clicked gives me the “Oops, can’t find that page” message. Where do I go to change the link in the Info pulldown to a mailto: my email address instead?
2) I’ve had a few people register on my site without making a purchase, so I wanted to see if there was a problem with the registration process or something else. When I registered as a fake new user, I gave my email address and chose a password and saw that there is a “*A password will be emailed to you.” message below those fields. So yes, I got an auto email that assigned me a second long auto-generated random password. But the original password I registered with still seems to get me back in after I logout. — So why the need for this second confusing random password? I think this will confuse and annoy potential customers and turn them off to my site, if they get to choose their own password to register but then are sent another random one. It makes it look like I have a poorly designed website. How do I disable this sending of the second password, is it truly unnecessary?
I would imagine other artists are having this same complaint. Please help, thanks!! – KennyK

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 1:54 am #11471Hi Kenny, thanks for posting here. I’m trying to keep all info on this forum for searchability.
1 – Contact form 7 is tricky for me too. It requires specific configuration that isn’t always obvious.
Check this page out and let us know if your set up the same way on Contact Form 7 (after you reinstall it)
http://contactform7.com/setting-up-mail/Regarding the dead-end, that can be reconfigured in Users->Your Profile->Contact Page — simply input the page link you wish to point to.
2 – If things are working properly it should send the password the chose. But I’ve seen it backfire. If you like i can check it out.
BTW – added you to my network.
December 6, 2014 at 2:06 am #11478Hey Leo – I tried your Users->Your Profile->Contact Page advice, but there’s no “Contact Page” field on my profile page. Is this field accessible somewhere else on the control panel? Do you have an alternative method? I prefer email to the Contact Form.
Regarding #2), yes please check it out and try to register a new account and you’ll see what I mean, because it’s not working properly. There is a note with an asterisk in the registration field that a new password will be sent, and then you’ll get an email with the new auto-generated password. I’d like to eliminate the note and the new password, and let the password the customer chooses in the first place remain the only password. Thanks for your help! – KK

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 2:25 am #11472Your right! Your missing some stuff.
Before I install a fresh version of the theme, did you do any changes on the code? I don’t want to mess up anything you might have had.
December 6, 2014 at 2:31 am #11473Yes I did but now I can’t remember what I did – I edited some code in the control panel but don’t remember exactly what, it was very confusing to me at the time. But I definitely made a few changes. Can you still make the edits?

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 2:32 am #11474Thanks – yeah I can work around it.
December 6, 2014 at 3:18 am #11475Your user settings should be here: http://www.kennykstock.com/wp-admin/profile.php
It just occurred to me I will not see the same thing you will since you are the site owner.
I updated you – please let me know if the issues continue.
December 6, 2014 at 4:05 am #11476Leo, I just checked and whatever updates you’ve made have had no effect – there’s no change from before, for either issue:
1) The link you just sent is the same link I checked before, it still has no field for Contact Page. There’s a Contact Info section, but nothing for Contact Page. Are you saying you’ve tweaked it and now you see “Contact Page” at this link?
2) I registered a new account and the same problem is still happening – the asterisk message that a new password will be emailed, and once I registered an email was sent with a auto-generated password.
What updates did you make? Everything is still the same as it was. Did you try to register a new account? You’ll see what I mean.

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 4:21 am #11477Regarding #1
I see you have two admin accounts – KennyK and Kenny Kiernan. So for instance if your loggin in as KennyK and your not seeing the options, then log in as Kenny Kiernan.
You can change which accounts the network attributes are applied to on the Bee->network settings->Author Settings (Dropdown)
I’ll check #2 in a bit.
December 6, 2014 at 3:43 pm #11470I tried both of this options and the profile page appears the same – no field for Contact Page. Are you seeing the same thing I’m seeing when you login?

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 6, 2014 at 7:57 pm #11469No, I can’t see your options on that page because they only show for you – or should anyway 😀 at the very most desperate, I suppose I could log in as you, though I don’t think I could match your talent.
Today I’m going to give this another look.
December 7, 2014 at 9:08 am #11468See below attachment. Look for the red edits.
When I made the site author “Leo” I got the options we were looking for. If it works for me it should work in your admin account as well.
symbiostock Control Panel ‹ KennyK Stock Vectors — WordPress 2014-12-06 23-03-33.png[/attachment:vgek6ekh]
Profile ‹ KennyK Stock Vectors — WordPress 2014-12-06 23-06-52.png[/attachment:vgek6ekh]Regarding the password glitch, I’m making a release that will simply say “your chosen password” since the one they chose is the one that works.
December 7, 2014 at 5:49 pm #11479I see, this is where we’re having a miscommunication – see attached screen grab; this is what I’m seeing under Your Profile, and it didn’t change when I selected Leo in Users and changed your role to Author. Note the differences – we’re on the same page, but mine just says “Profile” and yours says “Symbiostock Profile and Extended Network Info”. I thought I had the most recent version of the theme – so why am I seeing something different than you are? Please email me the login credentials you’re using so I can login as you and see what you’re seeing. I tried logging in as “leo” with the password I gave you but but it didn’t work. – thanks!

https://www.clipartman.comDecember 7, 2014 at 7:55 pm #11480Let me try to cover all the bases here – I think this is just typical new-to-wordpress confusion.
First off, you are an admin. That means you have access to all site functionality. Symbiostock requires the image authors to be an admin.
Which admin user the image authorship is credited to is assigned in:
BEE->NETWORK->(scroll down)->AUTHOR SETTINGS
I think you are looking for this option in wordpress’s user management panels where you changed me to a typical wordpress author (not an admin).
So if you go to the BEE->NETWORK->(scroll down)->AUTHOR SETTINGS and choose your account as the main site author, those elusive options will show up at the bottom of your profile area I promise you!
*Note – I noticed you have two admin accounts in that dropdown. Make sure your choosing the one you log in with typically.
December 7, 2014 at 8:21 pm #11481It worked! What was missing was that I didn’t know to click the “Network Bonus Info” link to the right of the Author Settings category and just below the Author Settings link. When I did that, it gave me all the whole “Symbiostock Profile and Extended Network Info” extended page that you’ve been seeing. I changed the Contact Page info to my mailto: link and it works.
On the password issue, I just registered a new test account and it doesn’t ask for the user to enter a password, it just says a password will be sent to you, which worked. This is an improvement, thanks – now there’s no confusion as to which password to use.
Thanks very much for your help and patience Leo, you’re the Man!
